Today’s LiveWire Spotlight is on FERC’s two-day Reliability Policies Conference held in Washington DC to assess progress on its BES initiatives. It was led by FERC Commissioners with executive-level presenters from NERC, the Regions, PUCs, Canadian Authorities, industry consortia, ISOs, and the EPA.
FERC confirmed that the priority reliability concerns are with cyber security, vegetation management, and events which may lead to wide area electric service loss. However, left unresolved were dramatic differences with the EPA that more time was needed to accommodate environmental rules expected to take effect over the next few years.
