Today’s LiveWire Spotlight is on the follow up examination of CIP-006-3 R1.1 – ordered in FERC Docket RD10-8-000 concerning the physical security of dial-up accessible Critical Cyber Assets. The ruling was triggered by the Commission’s unease with the interpretation submitted by NERC that dial-up devices using non-routable protocols are not required to be enclosed within a six-wall Physical Security Perimeter (PSP).
The findings from this conference will have implications to the recent interpretation proposed under Project 2008-10 concerning Electronic Security Perimeter wiring that extends beyond the PSP. The interpretation has been posted on the project website for a 45 day review and successive ballot. Industry stakeholders have until November 21 to vote and/or return comments to the project team.
