Today’s LiveWire Spotlight addresses three NERC projects involving TPL-001 through TPL-004, intended to drive consistent continent-wide Transmission Planning practices. The recent approval of FERC on the interpretation from Project 2009-14 is a reverse from their previous directive that planners must simulate non-operational Protection Systems in single BES element failure analyses. In addition, the status of Project 2010-11 and Project 2006-02 is discussed.
The interpretation to TPL-002-0 R1.3.10 takes effect on October 24 in the US. FERC is still considering NERC’s comments on Table 1, footnote ‘b’. No deadline has been set for the completion of their deliberations.
