Today’s LiveWire Spotlight addresses NERC’s request to FERC to continue to postpone further action on changes regarding the management of Time Error Correction – originally submitted for approval in 2009. This puts the approval of BAL-004-1 on hold, which removes the requirement for Interconnection Time Monitors to order Interconnection frequency adjustments to synchronize time keeping devices – a function performed by Reliability Coordinators on a voluntary basis. NERC needs the additional time to conduct a related field trial.
NERC’s proposal to defer the approval of BAL-004-1 is under consideration by the Commission. No date has been set for FERC’s response – whether to accept the deferral, approve BAL-004-1 as is, or request further information.
