Today’s LiveWire Spotlight is on the initial simulations validation procedures proposed by NERC’s Model Validation Task Force (MVTF) to standardize the verifications of Bulk Electric System composite planning models against actual operating data. It describes three types of validations that Systems and Operations Planners should perform to assure that static and dynamic simulations match actual BES response – including steady-state, dynamic, and event analysis.
The initial draft of “Procedures for Validation of Powerflow and Dynamics Cases” has been posted by the MVTF for a 20 day review. They will be accepting comments from industry stakeholders until August 26, 2011.
