Today’s LiveWire Spotlight is on FERC Order 1000; which builds on Order 888 (open access) and Order 890 (planning reforms) to encourage the development of high voltage interstate transmission. The Commission expects this ruling to improve system reliability, promote competition, equitably allocate costs to consumers, and drive the use of renewable generation.

FERC Order 1000 takes effect on September 19, 2011. Transmission providers must submit compliance filings within one year – eighteen months for those related to inter-regional coordination and cost allocation.
